God's Will Conference & Bible Study Testamonies

"But for as much Biblical knowledge as I had, there were areas of my life that were not orderly, where confusion reigned. I came away from the Conference with two truths that have completely transformed my faith in the past year.

There is far less frustration in my life, and I am much more forgiving of myself and others. Positively stated, I’ve found joy and peace in the midst of the most unlikely circumstances. And I am learning to receive and embrace God’s unconditional love for me that I might learn to truly love others unconditionally.

It has been almost a year since I took part in the “There Is An Answer: God’s Will for Your Life” Conference. And what a year it has been! As I began to reflect on exactly how my life has been changed since that wonderful day, I am overwhelmed with gratitude at how the Lord has worked in my life. To list all those changes specifically would take more time than I have to write and that you have to listen!

Let me begin by saying that I approached the seminar with cautious hope. I have been a believer for over 30 years, and have read and studied Scripture on a daily basis for almost that same amount of time. I have been involved in Bible studies, even taught them, for 25 years. I have counseled and mentored women in the Titus 2 vein for 15 years. Much of the Biblical content of the Conference was not new to me.

What was revolutionary was the way the Truth of Scripture was ordered and applied. I know that God is a God of order. But for as much Biblical knowledge as I had, there were areas of my life that were not orderly, where confusion reigned. I came away from the Conference with two truths that have completely transformed my faith in the past year:

The most pivotal was seeing what was God’s responsibility and what was my responsibility in my Christian growth process. How freeing it has been to realize that all the Lord requires of me is to surrender my will to Him in my desire to be obedient. It is His job to transform my mind, heart and will to be like Christ Jesus. I’ve spent most of my Christian life striving to do that myself!

The second principle is closely related. My transformation is a life-long process. Transformation is God’s purpose for my life. Anything that He does as a result of that transformation, the way my life affects others, is secondary. Affecting others for Christ is not the purpose for living, it is the result of being transformed into His image.

God has applied these two principles in countless ways in my life. Some are easily recognized, some are so subtle that they take me by surprise long after the fact. But I can tell you this: there is far less frustration in my life, and I am much more forgiving of myself and others. Positively stated, I’ve found joy and peace in the midst of the most unlikely circumstances. And I am learning to receive and embrace God’s unconditional love for me that I might learn to truly love others unconditionally. "When God called me to be a lay counselor, I had no clue about the changes that God was about to make in my life. During the Lay Counseling Training Program I not only received the training and the counseling skills that I needed, but I also reached another level of maturity in my personal walk with Jesus Christ.

There Is An Answer's program was an intensive study of God’s word, the “Exchanged Life” Bible-based counseling model and counseling skills. For me the Lay Counseling Training Program was both personally challenging and rewarding. More importantly, the program prepared me for even greater blessings as I went on to use my training to help others. I have been amazed to see God work through me to change people’s lives.
