Victory In Jesus
We are a
pastoral counseling ministry offering Biblical-based discipleship
help. Ministering to people as they seek to apply biblical
principles to their personal and spiritual problems we offer a
Biblical Counseling approach that emphasizes grace, the Exchanged
Life Counseling teachings and the character of God.
Providing a caring and accepting environment for those who have been
hurt and wounded in their life’s journey, our goal is love each
individual with a love that neither asks nor expects anything in
return and to provide a place where you can receive and experience
the grace of God to comfort and bring healing to their lives.
Our passion is to go beyond helping the person through their current
problem, although there would certainly be nothing wrong with that.
The Bible is clear that we are to help each other: bear one
another’s burdens (Gal 6:2) and a wise man listens to counsel (Prov
12:15).
We believe that God has called us to go beyond the current problem
and to help the person live in victory in Jesus Christ no matter
what their circumstances. Our lives on earth are many times filled
with pain and sorrow. The number of broken marriages, broken
relationships, and broken countries continues to increase. We see
and hear of children killing their parents, children killing
children, and the list goes on and on.
Jesus, Himself, said “In this world you will have tribulation.”
(John 16:33) But He also said, “do not fear, for I have overcome.”
As Christians we have the opportunity to walk in victory in Christ –
no matter what our circumstances. But is does not come naturally,
which brings us to the ministry’s first two guiding principles:
Foundation Scripture #1
Our first foundation Scripture for our organization is John 3:16:
For God so loved the word, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes
in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
This Scripture covers our salvation – without of which we have no
hope.
Foundation Scripture #2
Our second guiding principle is Matthew 28:19-20:
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them
to observe all that I commanded
you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of
the age.
This Scripture is our call to make disciples and to teach the things
that Christ has commanded us. Jesus said He only did God’s will or
what God commanded Him to do. No matter how many left Him, denied
Him, came up against Him, Jesus went to the cross. He stayed the
course and finished His work. That is what we want to help other’s
do – finish their work here on earth.
Our work on this earth may not be as difficult as Jesus’, but like
Jesus, God does have a plan for our lives (Jer 29:11). Our
role in the Great Commission is to prepare others to find and
fulfill their role in the Great Commission. That is where true joy
and peace will be found – no matter what our circumstances.
Foundation Scripture #3
We go about making disciples by using the Word of God. Our third
foundation Scripture is
John 8:32 & 36:
and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall
make you free. If therefore the Son shall
make you free, you shall be free indeed.
Our teaching is grounded in the Word of God and comes from the Word
of God. We believe that in the Word of God is healing, life, and
transformation. We believe that lasting and true change requires the
work of the Holy Spirit. Much like salvation we cannot do it
ourselves. Self-efforts may work for awhile but are only temporary
and have no place in God’s kingdom.
The person must first be changed from within, and then their
behavior will change, as will their relationships, their purpose in
life and how they live their lives (Romans 12:2). We believe that
change must first be revealed by God and will create a dependency
relationship on God and not the things of this earth.
